Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of San Luis Obispo Residents Directory. By using the reference, you accept these conditions. If you do not agree, please stop using the service.

1. What This Service Is

San Luis Obispo Residents Directory is a privately operated reference. It describes and links to public rolls, record indexes, directory collections, libraries, archives, and official portals that may show who lives or has lived in San Luis Obispo County, California. It does not host government records and is not affiliated with any office, court, library, or custodian.

2. Acceptable Use

Use the service only for lawful purposes. You may not use it or information reached through it to:

  • Stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or harm a person
  • Locate a person protected by a restraining or protective order
  • Commit identity theft, fraud, or another unlawful act
  • Make an FCRA-regulated decision about credit, employment, housing, insurance, or a similar purpose
  • Scrape, copy, or republish the reference at scale
  • Interfere with the service, its security, or its operation

3. No Consumer Reports

This service is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, 15 U.S.C. section 1681 and following sections. Nothing published here, and nothing returned by a linked search tool, is a consumer report. It may not be used to decide eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or another purpose covered by the FCRA.

4. Outside Links

County and state portals, libraries, archives, courts, and sponsored search providers have their own terms, privacy policies, availability, prices, and data practices. San Luis Obispo Residents Directory does not control those services and is not responsible for their content or conduct.

5. No Warranties

The reference is supplied “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that a detail is complete, accurate, or current, or that an external portal will remain available or return a correct result.

6. Liability Limits

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the operators are not liable for direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or similar damages arising from use of this reference or a linked resource, including a decision made from a record reached through it.

7. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold the operators harmless from claims or demands, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, that result from your misuse of the service or breach of these terms.

8. Intellectual Property

The original writing, design, logo, and layout belong to their respective rights holders and are protected by copyright. Linking to a page and quoting a short excerpt with attribution are permitted. Republishing a full page or copying the material systematically is not.

9. Changes to These Terms

Terms may be revised by posting a new version here. Continued use after the revision is posted means that you accept the updated language.

10. Access Restrictions

We may block or limit access for a user who violates these terms, abuses the service, or threatens its security. This action may occur without advance notice.

11. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without applying conflict-of-law principles. The California Public Records Act, Government Code sections 7920.000 through 7931.000, governs many state and local access questions but does not make this private reference a records custodian. California privacy obligations may also include the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act, including Civil Code section 1798.100 and following sections, where applicable.

12. Severability

If a court finds one provision unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in effect.

13. Questions
